BOREY RONG

Borey is known to the locals as “Jesus Mom” and to our staff as the “Mother Teresea of Cambodia.” Her love for the children and people in our LightBridge ministry locations (and beyond) reflects Christ’s love each and every day.  Borey runs the “Love of Christ School” in the slums of Poipet, where almost 200 students, Kindergarten through fifth Grade, receive an education in Khmer. She also feeds the children, washes their hair to prevent them from getting lice, and loves on them with Jesus’ compassion and grace. In the evenings, Borey uses her ‘free time’ to tutor school children, or clean wounds of street kids, or share Bible lessons, or feed homeless kids and families.  And sometimes she enjoys a quiet evening at home surrounded by kids who all call her ‘mom’. Borey has a vision for the “Poipet-Love in Christ School” to grow into a Kindergarten-Sixth Grade school, where students will know the love of Jesus and receive an excellent education in Khmer and English. She also has a vision to build an orphanage and rehab center in a nearby village. Borey sees these precious children created in God’s image and their incredibly challenging lives and she wants to help and support them in any way she can with the unconditional love of Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. For years Borey has done this work without a salary.  Now, through LightBridge and your generous support, she is able to receive a monthly salary to support herself as well as her mother and father.  The three live together in the slums of Poi Pet next to the school. Borey would love for you to come and visit her, her parents and meet the kids she loves so much.
